We are created by God to be social beings, living in community and instructed to help and love each other. We maintain social health through interaction, play and forgiveness. Take time to nurture your relationships with family, friends, congregation and co-workers.

STEP 1. Like yourself. You are a child of God. Every morning look into the mirror and put on your baptism. Inevitably, this will create a positive outlook.
STEP 2. Reach out and invite. To ask someone to be with you is a significant compliment to them.
STEP 3. Make a list of your friends, and review it to make sure no relationship grows stale. Keep a social calendar; look ahead; plan social events.
STEP 4. Be willing to speak first, but listen with engagement. You can initiate a conversation by complimenting someone’s clothing, observing articles in the room or even commenting on the weather. Just be willing to initiate.
STEP 5. Be thoughtful in conversation. Never criticize, condemn or complain. Keep confidences, and be spare with advice.
STEP 6. Join groups (Church counts), but also join a book club, a community garden, exercise group, or some other affinity group.
STEP 7. Have fun! There is nothing more engaging then laughter and joy.
